In partnership with the Urban Sustainability Directors Network, the Funders’ Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities (TFN) is pleased to announce the opening of Round Ten of Partners for Places.
Partners for Places is a successful matching grant program that creates opportunities for cities and counties in the United States and Canada to improve communities by building partnerships between local government sustainability offices and place-based foundations. National funders invest in local projects to promote a healthy environment, a strong economy, and well-being of all residents. Through these projects, Partners for Places fosters long-term relationships that make our urban areas more prosperous, livable, and vibrant. The grant program provides partnership investments between $25,000 and $75,000 for one year projects, or $50,000 and $150,000 for two year projects, with a 1:1 match required by one or more local foundations.
The application deadline for Round Ten is January 30, 2017 (by 11:59 p.m., any time zone). Please visit the Partners for Places webpage for more information. Partners for Places general grant program is supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies, The JPB Foundation, Kendeda Fund, New York Community Trust, The Summit Foundation, and Surdna Foundation. A selection committee comprised of foundation representatives and urban sustainability directors will make selection decisions on behalf of Partners for Places, and awards will be announced on May 3, 2017. The Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) is a new loan program, which is targeted at large projects $20 million for large communities and $5 million for small communities (population of 25,000 or less).
Over the next month, EPA will be hosting a series of informational sessions about WIFIA program.
Eligible projects include wastewater and drinking water facilities as well as energy efficiency projects at these facilities and other large projects. The WIFIA program is separate from State Revolving Fund programs, but will coordinate with them.
If you are interested in this new funding program, then you are encouraged to attend one or more of the Webinars, particularly the first one, which is scheduled for November 29th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Eastern Time and will overview the WIFIA Program, loan terms and conditions, and credit policies.
The webinars are targeted at prospective WIFIA borrowers including municipal entities, corporations, partnerships, State Revolving Fund programs, non-governmental organizations, and organizations that support prospective borrowers. In each session, EPA will focus on a specific topic and provide participants the opportunity to ask questions.

EPA Grant Solicitation:
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is soliciting proposals under the Urban Waters Small Grants program that will advance EPA’s water quality and environmental justice goals. Proposed projects will address urban runoff pollution through diverse partnerships that produce multiple community benefits, with emphasis on underserved communities.
